This was fun, but I didn't have that many pictures to use on this computer. I could see the kids using this in many ways. They can sequence anything- stories, seasons, steps to an experiment, etc. I think that they would really enjoy it. It would work even better if they had use of a microphone and could speak about the steps of an experiment.

Tool #6
A wiki is a webpage with special formatting that allows you to collaborate with others while sharing and storing information.
http://mrsibrahim.wikispaces.com/I found that wiki page to be very interesting and neat. Each student has their own page that you can click on and they have written different things. Each student added a picture and can add different writings all throughout the year.
I think it would be neat to have this set up in my classroom. I have three different classes and this would allow kids from other classes to see each other's work. It also allows them to get ideas of their own if they get stuck. It reminds me of consuming of CCP.

I created an account on diigo.com. This allows you to save bookmarks and look at different groups that are already created. The good thing is that so many websites are already on this website and tagged. I was searching through the Science group and found several useful websites for the classroom.
http://www.rockingham.k12.va.us/howto/smartboard/lessons.htm
http://childparenting.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ/Ya&sdn=childparenting&zu=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nasa.gov%2Faudience%2Fforkids%2Fkidsclub%2Fflash%2Findex.html
Those are two of the websites I found using diigo's already made bookmarking groups.

1. Create a google doc and share it.
I created a google document and shared it with Caroline. I also used google docs during my classes this summer. We had a group project where we had to write a paper. It was very useful to all be on google doc at the same time and edit the paper together.
2. Set up google reader.
I set up 5 different blogs and added those subscriptions. For blogs, I find it easier to just follow the blogs on my own personal blogs rather than in google reader.

For the first image, I used word it out. You can enter a variety of terms and it will be displayed in different ways.
Dumpr - Photo Fun
For the second photo, I went to dumpr.net.
Using both of these websites, you can do many different things that would be helpful in the classroom. You can create many different products with pictures. Dumpr reminds me of the new technology on the Apple computers that the kids love. Regardless of the outcome, kids are using the computers and learning new things about technology.

1. What are your thoughts about building an online education community and participating in a PLN?
My first thought is what is a PLN? Then I read the directions and saw that it is a personal learning network. I am creating a community of learners with whom I share common educational interests and needs. It is fun to visit each person's blog and see what their viewpoint is and to get ideas from others.
2. What point stood out to you from the commenting advice?
I like being able to comment on other people's blogs because you have a conversation, comparing and contrasting ideas.
3. What five blogs did you select for your comments? (you may need to come back and add this information later by editing this post.)
I selected the blogs of Caroline, Shawn, Olga, Donna, and Stacey from Westwood to comment on.

Welcome to my blog! I have created my avatar and I am wondering why it says "Baby Mail" on it. I wish I could get that off. Oh well......
Creating the avatar was pretty simple. I hope it continues to be that way. We shall see I guess. I hope I finish this in less time than it took me to finally get started........
