Reflection

1. What are your favorite tools you now have in your personal technology toolbox? Briefly describe a particular activity that you will plan for your students using at least one of these new tools.

I liked photostory and i touch apps. I will continue to use the i touch in my classroom. I will also use photostory and have the students tell about their experiment.

2. How have you transfomed your thinking about the learning that will take place in your classroom?

I now see all the different options and see how much I can grow.

3. Were there any unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?
All of the things I was unaware of

Tool #11

Digital citizenship is very important to have in the classroom. People rely more on the internet now than ever before. Many students think that what they read on the internet is automatically true. Students are not always taught what to do on the internet. They teach themselves and that might not always be the best thing. Teachers must show them what to do, especially when it comes to research online. As teachers, we must constantly practice digital citizenship and show the students so that when they are using technology, it is not abused. We must be a role model, guide them, and watch them when using technology.

Tool #10

I used the I-touch with my students quite a lot last year. They used many science specific apps that went along with what I was teaching. For example, during our simple machines unit, they go to play with Gears. They often used the science glossary and often did science quizzes on the i touch. Of course, they thought it was much cooler to take a quiz on the i touch than on regular paper.

Tool #9

Jing and Screencast would be good to show students how to do things. It is often difficult tell students how to do something and always so much easier to show them step by step. With this technology, they could follow the different screens so that they know exactly where to go.

Skype would be a fun way to chat with other classrooms or a good way to have parent conferences if the parent had the technology. I have many friends that live throughout the world and most of them use Skype to stay in touch with friends and family.

Those are two videos that would be useful to my students. We use videos on a weekly basis in my classroom. I think that the students learn so much more when they can visualize what they are learning. They also enjoy them.

Tool #7

This was fun, but I didn't have that many pictures to use on this computer. I could see the kids using this in many ways. They can sequence anything- stories, seasons, steps to an experiment, etc. I think that they would really enjoy it. It would work even better if they had use of a microphone and could speak about the steps of an experiment.

Tool #6

A wiki is a webpage with special formatting that allows you to collaborate with others while sharing and storing information.

I found that wiki page to be very interesting and neat. Each student has their own page that you can click on and they have written different things. Each student added a picture and can add different writings all throughout the year.

I think it would be neat to have this set up in my classroom. I have three different classes and this would allow kids from other classes to see each other's work. It also allows them to get ideas of their own if they get stuck. It reminds me of consuming of CCP.
